This temple has more of a colourful history, built to the Greek god then used by the Romans the Byszantines wanted to knock it down, but quick thinking Sicillians converted it into a Christian Church and so it remainined until 1700 when it was restord to its original style. No Wars or Earthquakes

Valley of the Temples
Temple of Hera
Panton's Perfect Pictures
They call this the valley of the temples simply to trade off the name "Valley of the Kings"they really don't have to do this the site has some four temples a necropolis and other ancient ruins.
The main ones are:- Temple of Hera Temple of Concord Temple of Hercules Temple of Zeus Temple of Castor & Pollux All build tin the 5th Century BC
This temple was built out of sandstone, other mainly limestone. Sandstone is so soft the Greek painted the stone with a limstone wash to create a lay of harder material to protect the building.

Sicilly - Hotel Kaos
Kaos by Moonlight
Panton's Perfect Pictures
Hotel Kaos, this hotel has seen better days, even years. Thankfully out most of the day so not really a problem. Apart from the indifferent food.
The journey took five hours longer than we anticiated due to problems with the plane not being in the right place at the right time.
We were never able to get to the bottom of this...
